Default I miss playing my warrior!

my first character was a warrior/ranger who i leved up to 13. i've always enjoyed being a tank in these type of games. but i'm a helpful person so i decided to level up a monk knowing that i could heal people while adventuring. as a monk i'm constantly invited in to groups and, of course, it's nice to be wanted

however, i find myself more and more in the back of the group doing nothing but healing with an occasional zap of my staff. i miss being able to charge an ettin with my sword drawn. i miss protecting monks and mages. i miss being face to face with a nasty and hacking away.

i also noticed that as a monk, i get a lot fewer drops than everyone else. am i mistaken?

oh well. i have no idea why i started this thread. i guess i'm just bored. but perhaps all of you can tell me that in the end staying with my monk will be well worth it.

have a great day!

You are not mistaken. As an AoE mage, I'm usually so far from the fray that I rarely get any drops. It seems that the close-up classes seem to get more.

I say, play the class you enjoy, because it's a game and it's all about having fun.

My best friend plays a monk and I play the warrior. We did notice that when grouped he doesnt seem to get as many drops. We began to think drop rate is influenced by damage output, but we were never able to really prove this. He does complain a bit that he is always in the back and tends to miss out what is really going on because all he sees is red bars going up and down and never really looks at anything much going on in the screen, which means he misses a lot of game elements and partial story blocks and what not. But, as it isn't my taste, somehow he still enjoys it. Most definetly a different perspective than the attack and movement you get with warior.

not true the loot is completly random.. get the same ratio with my war or monk or ranga...

but to answer your question about stayin with your monkey or warrior... do what makes you happy.. Id say put the monkey down for a lil while and enjoy wrecking people hopes and dreams with a sword/axe/hamma.... I would be glad to follow you around with my monkey shoot me a tell in game.. (I am just the opposite of you I play my war but like my monk better...)

Are you sure?

It seems to me that there might be a bias due to having damaged a creature. Certainly, I feel like I get more drops when I'm at the front rather than hanging back.

I am quite sure....it's just the luck of the draw

it works like this:

and item drops you as a single entity have a 1/# percent of that drop being assigned to you(where # is the number of total people in your party)

Another item drops you as a signle entity have a 1/# percent of that drop being assigned to you.

sometimes we are lucky...sometimes we are not.

the most plausible reason, is taht as a monk you have so much concentration on lifebars, that you somethimes miss your drops. i know it happend to me when playing a monk.
almost missed a gold item if my teammates didn't warn me.

I am almost completely sure that drops are based upon the amount of damage you do, or upon the amount of damage that people you are supporting do.

I tanked and did the most damage to monsters as an e/mo with a friend tagging along, trying to get him some collector's items so he could get a new staff. I used the standard PbAoE smites, so I was right up there in the action, and sometimes he didn't even get his skills off in time (Just like Cynn+Orion: AoE finishes just as the monster dies.)

He got black dye, a gold armor, some other coloured stuff, and 3 collector's items. I got 4 white items, 1 purple staff with no mods, and 2 of the collector's items.

I killed 2 sand worms, and each of us got 1 bleached shell.

Go solo some monsters with someone else doing nothing but following you. You'll find you can still get shafted when it comes to drops, and very badly at that.

(No friends were harmed out of frustration+jealousy in the event leading to the creation of this post)

why do you think it is like this? so mages and ranger would get all the loots? it doesn't make any sense.

Other people in the forum think (or thought) this as well. Currently, I don't care what the drop system is as long as I get some.

I'll have a guildmate to do all the killing while I stand around and do nothing. and record how many items we each get.

Count number of drops not quality of drops, because I dont believe quality is influenced. Hell you can test both if you want, but my original point was refering to quantity.

And I am *completely* (not almost) sure you are wrong. I get drops as a Monk, even though I don't attack at all. I don't cast enchant. Hell, in early areas, I just "tank", while low levels kill. And I still get my share of drops.

Anyone know how it is with henches, do they have the same % of getting drops?
